Job Description:

A leading UK consulting and engineering services company based in Northeast England requires a Maintenance Strategy Consultant on a 6 month contract to be based at their head office.

The incumbent will provide high level strategic technical direction of maintenance engineering projects, assisting the Project Manager and MET team to deliver a range of maintenance engineering projects to their agreed deadlines and within budget. This includes driving compliance with the appropriate corporate commitments and strategies. This role will have direct input to, and influence in, future business development opportunities.

Responsibilities:

  • To provide technical direction and consultation to a team of development engineers
  • Liaise with the specialist contractor to provide support as required to facilitate the assessments of safety critical elements, updating of performance standards and the allowable system and component failure rates.
  • Advise on and influence the development and continued update of full scale project plans, work breakdown structures and other control mechanisms required by the project;
  • Facilitate the identification and definition of project scope, goals, objectives, quality and acceptance criteria;
  • Ensure all project deliverables meet the appropriate quality demands of the client;
  • Delegate and monitor the status of tasks and responsibilities to the appropriate project personnel;
  • Proactively manage financial data, including establishing and executing appropriate tracking and reporting to the project
  • Assist in the identification and management of changes to the project scope, and ensure the appropriate processes are carried out to identify, evaluate, implement and report change.
  • Assist in the management of project risk identification, planning, mitigation and contingency.
  • Directly influence, facilitate and drive the commercial tendering process for identified new projects;

Technical requirements:

  • Extensive knowledge and experience of maintenance in the Oil and Gas industry, particularly technical integrity systems and performance standards, assurance tasks and verification schemes
  • A thorough understanding of workflows in various CMMS solutions and related business processes
  • Experience of using a range of CMMS solutions, including updating and implementing changes
  • A good appreciation of best practice, condition based maintenance techniques and maintenance strategies for Mechanical, Instrument, Control and Electrical equipment (static and rotating)
  • A working knowledge of on and offshore legislation appropriate to maintenance work
  • A strong understanding of FME(C)A, Criticality Assessments, RCM and CBM
  • It is essential that the candidate is capable of rational thought and have good communication skills and the ability to assimilate information quickly, distil pertinent points, make decisions, and manage a team of skilled engineers in a high pressure environment.
  • It is expected that the engineer understands the development process and deliverables of planned maintenance, CMMS, work management and implementation thereof
  • Knowledge of Integrity Management Systems, safety case maintenance requirements, and the Management of Safety Critical Equipment testing and Maintenance is an advantage
  • Experience of new CMMS implementations and CMMS migration projects.
